synnada - Software Engineer / Onsite -Full Time

Synnada is an open-core company and a leading contributor to Apache DataFusion, a fast-growing open-source project. Having raised $4.4M USD from notable institutional investors such as Expeditions Fund, 500 EE, Collective Spark and DayOne, we are also backed by industry giants like Andy Grove (creator of DataFusion), Wes McKinney (creator of Arrow, pandas). Synnada is at the forefront of building ”Spark 2.0”, a next-gen compute layer designed for data and AI workflows that scales to meet the complex needs of modern, data-driven environments. We are part of the AWS CTO Fellowship and StartX, Stanford’s leading accelerator, which gives us access to cutting-edge innovations, networks, and mentorship opportunities. Our goal is to build a unified, highly scalable system that integrates seamlessly across distributed data and AI pipelines.

We are seeking software engineers who are still computer scientists at heart. Do learning about new algorithms and data structures excite you? Do you enjoy reading papers on state-of-the-art (or sometimes, old but esoteric) algorithms and data structures, as well as implementing them and seeing them in action? Do you spend more time reading HN, or playing games like Elevator Saga than you think you should?

At Synnada, we are looking for a self-starting Product Engineer who is proficient in full-stack development and who loves building products in a fast-paced, iterative environment. You will play a critical role in not only developing frontend components but also in crafting robust backend services that power our data streaming and AI platforms. If you're a builder with a passion for delivering exceptional user experiences and solving complex problems, this is the role for you.

Job Summary

As part of our Product Engineering team, you will play a critical role in not only developing interactive and user-centric frontend components but also in crafting robust backend services that power our data streaming and AI platforms. If you have a passion for creating seamless user experiences and enjoy solving complex problems by building scalable back-end systems, this is the role for you.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for individuals who love to solve challenging problems and are committed to continuous learning and personal growth. About the Company 🌞

At the intersection of data processing and artificial intelligence lies the future of computing—and Synnada stands at this crucial crossroads. As a venture-backed open-core company and primary contributor to Apache DataFusion, we're not just participating in the evolution of data systems; we're actively shaping it. Having raised $4.4M USD from notable institutional investors including Expeditions Fund, 500 EE, Collective Spark, and DayOne, we're also backed by industry giants like Andy Grove (creator of DataFusion) and Wes McKinney (creator of Arrow, pandas).

We're building what we call "Spark 2.0"—the next generation of distributed compute engines that seamlessly unifies data processing and AI workflows. In a world where traditional data systems struggle to keep pace with the demands of modern AI, we're creating a solution that scales naturally with the complexity of today's data-driven applications. Our technology represents a fundamental rethinking of how data and AI systems interact, offering a unified compute layer that processes both data and AI workloads with unprecedented efficiency.

As members of both the AWS CTO Fellowship and StartX, Stanford's leading accelerator, we have unique access to cutting-edge innovations, networks, and mentorship opportunities that inform our technical direction. Our goal is ambitious yet clear: to build a unified, highly scalable system that integrates seamlessly across distributed data and AI pipelines, setting a new standard for how organizations process and analyze data at scale. By combining the innovation speed of open source with enterprise-grade reliability, we're creating the foundation for the next generation of data-driven applications.
